History

Hernando Cortes conquered the Aztecs using superior weaponry and deceit. Can you?

After a few brief conflicts, the Spaniards managed to land at Tabasco and prepared for an assault. After the cannon failed to deter the attackers, the Spanish cavalry led by Cortes charged at the back of the Tabascan army. The Indians thought at the time that the horse and rider were one creature and quickly surrendered.

One of the slave girls given to Cortes was actually a Mexican but had been sold into slavery in the Yucatan; thus she was able to speak Nahuatl (Aztec) and Mayan. She quickly learned Castillian and became Cortes' official interpreter (and mistress). She was called "Marina" among the Spanish and is known as "La Malinche" in Mexico today. It was with the help of Marina that Cortes first learned of the powerful and affluent Aztec king, Montezuma, and the city of Tenochtitlan.

Instructions

Kill Montezuma and destroy the Aztec army to win.

If Hernando Cortez dies, you lose.

This scenario details the exploits of Hernando Cortez upon landing on the mainland at Vera Cruz. Following his journey to Tenochtitlan the capital of the Aztec empire and his conquest of Montezuma and the Aztec people.

This is a combat only mission. No citizens, buildings, or unit improvements allowed.

Subjugate villages to Spanish rule to recieve local troops as reinforcements. There are rumors of a transport vessel coming from Cuba with fresh Spanish troops.

Hints

By conquering villages, you will get reinforcements.

After conquering the first village, you will recieve Marina as a slave. Walk Marina up to village gates and the gate will open.

Use cannons and artillery from a distance on Towers.

Unit formations and strategic troop movements are the key to conserving your Spanish troops.

Use Medics to heal injured troops.
